Architectural Control Committee

As you can see by driving the neighborhood - the ACC has its hands full. New homes and remodeling are booming. Don't forget to send the ACC your plans BEFORE your start or contact the city for permits. It will save the board, the ACC, and you time and money.   If in doubt, please pick up the phone and call your Board, ACC member, or the management company.     The submission forms are available online at www.briarcroft.net.   Due to the increased construction in the neighborhood the responsibilities of the ACC Chairman has more than doubled over the past year.   In that regard the Board would like to recognize the efforts of Ross Tidwell who has chaired this committee for the last 4 years.   The Board has deemed it appropriate that henceforth who ever chairs the ACC will be exempt from paying dues for that year.

Security

The Board has renewed the Security Service Contract with Officer Paul Reese.   Off duty HPD officers will continue patrolling the neighborhood 8 hours per day during the week and 4 hours on the weekends.   The patrolling uniformed officers carry a cellular phone.   Residents in need of security services should contact the on duty officer directly at (713) 303-3660.   During the periods of time the officers are not on patrol, the cellular phone will be forwarded to the Houston Police Department to ensure a police response to emergency calls for service.

Security Tips and Advice

  1. Residents are advised to lock the doors of their homes, even when away from home for a short period of time. If you have an alarm system it is also advisable to activate it anytime you are away from home.
  2. All residents are also advised to be on the alert when returning home. Check your rear-view mirror for any vehicles that may be following you, and check the area around your home for any suspicious vehicles or persons. If you think you are being followed, continue driving to some place where other persons are present, such as the fire station on Woodway. Call the Patrol immediately .
  1. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PATROL FOR LATE NIGHT ESCORTS. Please give the officer 15 minutes notice in case the officer is on another call. Once in your home, lock your doors. If you have an alarm system, don't forget to activate your perimeter alarm once you are safely in your home. Always be cautious and observant.

Mow your lawn!

We realize it is summer time and Houston has had a fair amount of rain.   However the board has received a high number of complaints about lawns not being cut in a timely fashion.   Please be considerate of your neighbors and make sure your lawn is regularly mowed and weeded as necessary.

Reminders

Please drive slowly through the neighborhood.
Please have your landscapers quit blowing debris into the street drains. This is contributing to the street flooding. Have your yard people rake and bag the leaves and other lawn debris
.
Tree clippings must be tied into manageable bundles and placed on the curb for the trash company to pick up.

Please do not place your trash out too early, no earlier than dark the night before; also, bring in any cans upon returning home after trash pick up.

PARKING - It is against city ordinances for you to park on the sidewalk and to park facing the wrong way on the street. The city has issued tickets and warnings in our neighborhood for both violations. Parking on sidewalks eventually crushes them.

Esplanades on
Chimney Rock

The Esplanades at both ends of Chimney Rock are prone to being run over by careless motorists.   Not surprisingly, it usually occurs during a weekend night.   Repairing the damage can be costly, and when the drivers are caught, their insurance will pay for the damage.   Unfortunately, a high number of these incidents are hit and runs.   The Board has decided to forego the expense of continuing to replace the more expensive trees.   If and when the trees are destroyed again we will replace them with something more affordable.
